JASCO FT/IR-6X/8X spectrometers

For all researchers who perform structure research and other special measurements within the infrared range, but the spectral range, resolution and signal/noise ratio provided by the JASCO FT/IR-4X instrument are not sufficient, the FT/IR-6X and FT/IR-8X spectrometers can be the solution. The measuring range of both instruments can be extended to 25,000-20 cm-1 with the available wide selection of easy to change beam-splitters and additional optical elements. The replacement of the optical elements can be automated.
The vibration resistant design allows the placement of the instruments in operational or semi-operational experimental conditions as well. The spectrometers are equipped with a closed, 28o Michelson interferometer with auto-alignment. The interferometer as well as the sample and detector compartment can also be purged with nitrogen. The sample compartment is also suitable for sample holders from other manufacturers. The sample holders equipped with the iQX accessory recognition system are recognized by the instrument when inserted and the appropriate measurement parameters are automatically loaded into the software. A simple and well-documented instrument check is possible with the use of the built-in validation wheel, which also contains the polystyrene film required for validation measurements..
To achieve a wide wavenumber range, two light sources can be placed in the instrument housing. In addition to the standard DLATGS detector, a second detector can be placed in the instrument housing, but there is place for a third one that does not require liquid nitrogen cooling. Another two detectors can be placed in the optional external detector housing, but in this case the third place in the instrument cannot be used. The switching between the light sources and detectors is controlled by the software. JASCO FTIR microscopes can be connected to both models.

JASCO FT/IR-6X FTIR spectrometers
In the standard configuration, this instrument is equipped with a fully enclosed interferometer with temperature and humidity sensors. The exit window of the interferometer is an anti-reflection (AR) coated KRS-5 (Mid-IR) window. The light source is a high intensity ceramic one, the light path is provided by aluminum coated mirrors. The easy to change standard beam-splitter is Ge/KBr, and the detector is a Peltier thermostated DLATGS. The appropriate wavenumber accuracy is provided by a VCSEL long-life diode laser.
To assemble the spectrometer with the desired configuration, one can choose from 6 different beam-splitters, 4 different windows and 10 different detectors. In addition, other configurations may be set up: with vacuum design, with beam-splitter and automatic window switching unit, as well as with an optional rapid scan function.

  • signal/noise ratio: 47000:1
  • dimensions: 600 x 690 x 315 mm (WxDxH), 56 kg, with built-in power supply

JASCO FT/IR-8X FTIR spectrometers
In the standard configuration, this instrument is equipped with a fully enclosed interferometer with an anti-reflection (AR) coated KRS-5 (Mid-IR) window. The light source is a high intensity ceramic one, the high sensitivity is provided by gold coated mirrors. The easy to change standard beam-splitter is Ge/KBr, and the detector is a Peltier thermostated DLATGS. The appropriate wavenumber accuracy is provided by a He-Ne laser.
To assemble the spectrometer with the desired configuration, you can choose from 10 different beam splitters, 4 different windows and 11 different detectors. In addition, other configurations may be set up: with vacuum design (see the picture), with automatic beam-splitter and automatic window switching unit, and it can be supplemented with rapid-scan and step-scan functions as well.

  • spectral range:
    • standard: 7800-350 cm-1
    • optionally 25000-20 cm-1
  • spectral resolution: adjustable between 0.07-16 cm-1

The control of the instrument, data collection and spectrum processing are provided by the JASCO Spectra Manager 2.5 software with a renewed user interface. The Spectra Manager 2.5 software is suitable for “one-button” routine measurements and evaluations, which may include spectrum recording, spectrum corrections, spectrum analysis, e.g. peak search, comparison, data saving and printing as well. For needs of research, in addition to the detailed setting of the spectrum measurement parameters, the change of the Fourier transformation parameters is also available: apodization, zero filling, phase correction, etc. It provides easy-to-use self-monitoring functions such as self-diagnosis and documented daily check. When using JASCO ATR units, the program performs automatic crystal recognition based on the spectrum. It includes the validation software module, with which the operation of the instrument can be documented in compliance with EP, USP, JP pharmacopoeias, as well as with ASTM and JIS standards.
With the renewed JASCO spectrum search program – Advanced Spectra Search – we can create a spectrum library for later searches, and in the case of the spectrum of an unknown substance, it helps to identify the characteristic bands for easier identification of the sample. With the Wiley KnowItAll JASCO Edition software, a complete analysis and reporting of the measured spectra can be performed, starting with spectrum corrections, through spectrum identification, and even drawing the molecular structure. Both spectrum library management software can be expanded with additional commercially available spectrum libraries.Among the optional software packages that can be purchased separately (various quantitative methods, macro writing, etc.), the program suitable for determining the secondary structure of proteins stands out. The qHOS (higher order structure similarity evaluation software) module is available for biosimilarity studies and comparative studies of the higher order structures of proteins and peptides. We can also compare the recorded spectra by weighing the spectrum regions and the noise level. The evaluation can be done with 3 different statistical methods: Student’s t-test, Welch’s t-test and TOST Equivalence t-test.
Countless sample holders are available for determining the spectral properties in the infrared range of materials with a wide range of states of matter, temperatures, and optical properties. We offer a wide selection of JASCO, Pike and Specac sample holders and accessories for JASCO FT/IR instruments, starting from the presses used for the preparation of KBr pellets, through gas cells and ATR units to FTIR microscopes.
