Isolera instruments

Among the flash chromatography systems of the Swedish Biotage company, a wide range of instruments of different configurations can be found. With normal and reversed-phase columns, the separations of organic synthesis products, peptides, proteins, extracts of milligram quantities up to 150 grams becomes possible with these instruments, which contain all the necessary modules for their operation in a compact manner. The separation is traceable with built-in UV or UV/VIS or external (e.g. light scattering, RI detector) detectors, as well. The fractions can be collected on the basis of the detector signal or per defined volumes. The built-in computer with its touch screen controller allows the simple writing of the methods necessary for the separations. Due to its excellent algorithms, the software offers suggestions for the preparation of the flash chromatography method, based on thin-layer chromatography data. Also, it is capable of optimizing in a cost-cutting way the tasks that need time- and solvent-intensive gradients.

Isolera Prime

The entry-level automated Isolera Prime flash chromatography instruments contain a binary gradient eluent transferring system and they are recommended for purifying materials of milligram quantities up to 75 grams. The fraction collection is carried out manually, based on the volume, the built-in fixed or variable two-channel UV, or based on the signal of an external detector. The built-in computer is capable of gradient formation and gradient optimization base on the thin-layer chromatography recording. The color-coded fraction tracing facilitates the identification of the separated reaction products. The on-going separation can be made more suitable by the real-time changing of the flow rate, solvent composition or fraction collection parameters. With the solvent prediction the necessary eluent amount can be planned. Thus, the instrument stops during the separation process because the further eluent demand can be avoided. The data and methods are stored automatically within the internal memory of the instrument and they can be transferred to the computer with an USB stick.

Isolera

The Isolera instruments, using an eluent produced either by combining 4 arbitrary input solvents or a binary gradient and another solvent in a fixed proportion, satisfy the various needs of all laboratories where the target during the separation is to purify milligrams to 75 grams of materials. The Isolera instruments are produced in one- or four-column constructions and in the case of the latter one each column place can be programmed individually. The fraction collection operates manually, on the basis of the volume, the built-in fixed or variable two-channel UV-VIS, or on the basis of the signal of an external detector. The built-in computer is capable of gradient formation and gradient optimization based on the thin-layer chromatography results. The color-coded fraction tracing facilitates the identification of the separated reaction products. With the real-time change of the parameters referring to the flow rate, solvent composition or fraction collection during the operation of the applied method, the on-going separation can be made more suitable. With the solvent-demand prediction the necessary amount of the eluent can be planned, thus, avoiding the stopping of the instrument during the separation process, because of further eluent demand. The data and methods are stored automatically within the internal memory of the instrument and they can be transferred to the computer with an USB stick.

Isolera LS

The Isolera LS designed for the separation of large sample amounts uses either an eluent produced by the arbitrary binary combination of four input solvents or an eluent produced in a fixed proportion of a binary gradient and another solvent and has a milligram to 150 grams purification range. The fraction collection operates manually, on the basis of volume or the signal of the built-in variable two-channel UV or variable two-channel UV-VIS or the signal of an external detector. The built-in computer is capable of gradient formation and optimization based on the thin-layer chromatography results. The color-coded fraction tracing facilitates the identification of the separated reaction products. During the operation, with the real-time change of the parameters related to the flow rate, solvent composition or fraction collection of the used method, the on-going separation can be made more suitable. With the solvent-demand prediction the necessary amount of the eluent can be planned, thus, avoiding the stopping of the instrument during the separation process, because of further eluent demand. The data and methods are stored automatically within the internal memory of the instrument and they can be transferred to the computer with an USB stick. In its basic configuration, the instrument contains a leak detector based on the refractive index change, which can be switched off from its software, if requested.

Isolera Spectra software option for instruments with variable wavelength detector

The flash chromatography systems containing the Isolera Spectra software possess not only the Isolera and Isolera LS functions but they are also suitable for taking full advantage of the variable wavelength detectors of the instruments. They are capable of simultaneous detection and real-time spectrum display in the full wavelength range. With the 3-dimensional display, the spectral analysis gives possibility to control the purity of the fractions, as well. The software contains the automatic step gradient formation, the separation simulation and the gradient optimization extension based on the TLC recording.

Isolera ELSD-A120 light scattering detector is for the detection of non-volatile substances without UV/VIS absorbance or with low absorbance. It has graphic display and multi-function buttons for setting the operation parameters. It can be connected to Isolera systems with analog signal output.

Leak detector based on the refractive index change for Isolera Prime and Isolera systems. Its operation can be switched on/off from the software.

3-way injector valve syringe with adaptor for injecting liquid samples.

For fraction collection test tube holders for test tubes of 13×100 mm, 16×150 mm, 18×150 mm, 25×150 mm, also vessel holders for vessels of 120 ml, 240 ml, 480 ml.

DLV (Dry Loading Vessel) kits for solid samples (1-30 g, 10-70 g, 50-500 g) applied on the support. They can be connected directly to columns with luer connector pressure limit: 7 bars.

Column holders (mounted onto the side of the instrument, they provide the vertical placement of the columns) for Biotage SNAP, SNAP Ultra and ZIP flash chromatography columns.

FlashPack holder for standard size syringe type columns, which can be used with Biotage Isolute flash chromatography columns, with other, commercially available columns of the same geometry and with self-loaded columns with the corresponding pistons.
